Maryland Working Families Endorses Marc Elrich for County Executive

SILVER SPRING, Md._ On May 1, a day that honors workers all over the world, Maryland Working Families (MDWF) announced their endorsement of Marc Elrich for Montgomery County Executive. A grassroots organization that engages in issue campaigns and organizing work in addition to electoral advocacy, MDWF supports candidates who share their progressive vision for an economy that works for everyone.

“Maryland Working Families is proud to support Marc Elrich for County Executive,” said Jay Hutchins, Acting Executive Director of Maryland Working Families. “He's a demonstrated champion for the people of Montgomery County. Marc Elrich is exactly the type of progressive leader we need to move Montgomery County forward.”

MDWF counts paid sick leave and “ban the box” legislation (which reduces obstacles to job opportunities for people with criminal records) - two initiatives Elrich was a leader on at the county level - as two of their proudest accomplishments. They say they do not give “paper” endorsements and that, when they endorse someone, they expect to “make a difference in electing a progressive candidate.”

“It is an honor to receive the support of Maryland Working Families,” Elrich said. “Working Families chapters all around the country have played an important role in advancing policies that tangibly improve people’s lives, and it means a lot that they see my candidacy’s potential to help families across Montgomery County.”
